H2O - Prospector 16'4" - GWN
H2O Canoe Company Prospector 16'4" Canoe
Over a century after the original Chestnut Canoe Company brought it to life in New Brunswick, the Prospector design remains the standard by which versatile tripping canoes are judged. H2O's Prospector 16'4" Great White North is a faithful take on that legacy, built for everyday paddlers who want a rugged, dependable canoe that handles whatever the trip throws at it.
The symmetrical, keel-less hull with semi-arched bottom and moderate rocker gives this canoe its famously balanced character. It responds well when you need to manoeuvre in moving water, tracks predictably when you want to cover distance on a big lake, and carries a full load without losing its composure. Sharp entry lines help the bow manage large waves, while the semi tumblehomed sides work to deflect water away from the paddler rather than into the boat.
The Great White North layup series is built for real-world tripping conditions, not just fair-weather paddles. Options include Innegra Tuff, Innegra Co-Mingle with ICG, and Expedition Kevlar, ranging from approximately 49 to 53 lbs. H2O's Integral Composite Gunwale (ICG) is available and integrates a Carbon/Kevlar inner gunwale directly into the mould for a system that's substantially stronger, more rigid, and lighter than conventional aluminum. Wood gunwale upgrades in hand-rubbed ash or black cherry are also on offer for those who appreciate a traditional finish.
