Zegul - Arrow Empower HV 3D C Core
Zegul Arrow EmpowerÂ
At 18'3", the Zegul Arrow Empower HV 3D C-Core is built for paddlers who want genuine expedition capability without giving up the responsive, connected feel that makes a sea kayak satisfying to paddle every single day.
Part of the Arrow series that Zegul brought into the fold from Denmark in 2014, the Empower carries that signature Danish design sensibility: precise, efficient, and handsome without being fussy. Built in 3D C-Core lay-up, the clear carbon hull with coaxial carbon weave at mid-ship is vacuum-infused with high-quality epoxy resin and a blend of carbon fibre, carbon/aramid, and glass multiaxial fabrics, producing an exceptionally stiff and lightweight build that rewards clean technique on long open-water crossings. Sharp entry points and a long waterline give it exceptional glide and a cruising pace that feels effortless. The moderately rockered bow and soft-defined chines along the mid-ship keep the boat nimble and playful on edge, which is genuinely impressive in a hull this long. Sized for paddlers in the 155 to 210 lb range, the 21-inch beam with a shallow arched hull trades a bit of primary stability for the fluid edge-to-edge transitions that reward developing technique.
Outfitting follows the European school of thought: purposeful, robust, and precisely placed rather than heavily padded. The contour backband adjusts via nut-and-bolt points for a dialled-in fit, and the multi-adjustable thigh braces and slidelock footpegs give you the contact points needed for solid bracing and efficient rolling. The low rear deck is an asset for layback rolls and self-rescues, and the four hatch system with a centre day pod provides serious storage for multi-day coastal or open-water touring. A recessed compass mount at the bow is a practical touch for longer navigational crossings.
