Salus - Jazz PFD

Salus Marine Jazz PFD

A PFD that was born on whitewater but has earned a loyal following among flat-water paddlers tells you something about how well it's actually designed, and the Salus Jazz has done exactly that.

The Jazz is built around an innovative rocker shape that conforms to your torso as you reach and rotate through each stroke, keeping the jacket in place without restricting movement. Low-profile foam placement keeps the fit close and comfortable across a wide range of body types. Like the Proto, the Jazz sits lower on the torso, which is a genuine advantage for larger builds and bigger chest sizes. Paddlers using recreational kayaks with high seat backs should be aware the lower cut can cause some ride-up when seated, so a proper fitting is worthwhile before you buy.

The front design is clean and functional. Adjustment straps are tucked inside the large zippered front pocket, keeping the exterior free of snag points for a streamlined profile on the water. Dry-Lex lining on both the front and back interior panels manages moisture and keeps airflow moving during hard efforts, while the 500 Denier Cordura outer shell resists the kind of wear that comes with regular use on Canadian rivers and lakes. A front lash tab handles a knife, whistle, or light, and 3M Scotchlite reflective trim adds visibility when the light gets low.
