RBW - Wanigan Harness

Wanigans have been a canoe tripping staple for generations, but portaging one comfortably has always been the trade-off. The RBW Wanigan Harness finally addresses that.

Built as part of the Heritage line, this harness wraps around wooden or plastic wanigans and hard-sided coolers using two horizontal and two vertical sections of 1-inch webbing, secured through slip-lock and tension-lock buckles with daisy chain adjustment. The vertical straps do double duty, keeping the lid of your wanigan or cooler closed and secured during the carry, while quick-release buckles let you get in and out fast when you need something. Four hi-visibility yellow handles positioned on all sides make lifting, carrying, and loading into the canoe manageable even with a full kit inside.

The carry system is what sets this harness apart. The RBW Super Tump is included for traditional tumpline portaging, and modular padded shoulder straps with an adjustable sternum strap are also part of the package, a genuinely rare feature on a wanigan harness. Ride height is adjustable to suit your frame. A back pad combining 3/4-inch reticulated foam over 1/2-inch EVA foam sits between you and the hard side of the wanigan, which makes a real difference on a long carry. All three carry components are removable to suit your preferred portaging style.
